I saw a man almost fall asleep today.
It happened at IKEA.
The strange thing was that he wasn't sitting on a sofa. He wasn't trying a bed, either.
He was sitting on a small chair outside the restroom.
Maybe he was waiting for his wife and child.
He leaned back and closed his eyes for a moment. His face looked completely peaceful, as if nothing in the world needed his attention.
I couldn't help smiling.
There were hundreds of chairs in the store.
Some were soft. Some were expensive. Some were designed to make you want to stay forever.
But the most comfortable chair wasn't part of the showroom.
It was just a simple waiting chair.
I thought about that on my way home.
Maybe comfort has very little to do with furniture.
Sometimes all we need is a place where, for a few quiet minutes, nothing is expected of us.
